Don't get worked up over preseason football!

The man responsible for the No. 1 selling jersey in all the NFL made his debut in said jersey this week for the Chicago Bears. Yep, Jay Cutler was under center for the first time as a Bears QB and his game was met with mixed reviews. Check this interview that aired during the Bears broadcast.
Jay went 5 of 10 for 64 yards mainly in the first quarter before giving way to Caleb Hanie (who performed quite well).
Before I get into my reaction here's what the man said on his performance, so you don't say I bended things.

First off, not the most impressive performance, but there is only one way to go, UP. My one objection is what Cutler said in the postgame was that he deflected right away to Devin. Whoa! C'mon, the throw was awful and late. It's way too early to start throwing guys under the bus, Jay.
But as my boy David Haugh of the Chicago Tribune wrote, the "Cutler-fication" of the Bears continues. It is just the preseason and they can all learn from things. Hopefully build in the positive dirction toward Sept. 13 in Green Bay. The Trib's Steve Rosenbloom gives another take on the matter. Best to give Jay one pass here.
As for the rest of the game, that pick was just the first of five turnovers and that cannot happen if you want to win the game. To the credit of the offense, and Cuter, both Greg Olson and Matt Forte did not play. That did give some other guys a chance to show what they could do, which is what preseason is for.
The defense was equally, as short handed and Dan Pompei of the Trib points out, there were signs to be concerned. I'd have to agree there becuase as has been shown the past couple of seasons, when healthy this defense should be one of the top-5 squads in the league. That was not the case Saturday and hasn't been the case for awhile (see Mike Brown). That means depth is of the utmost priority. And they got rocked.
Lastly, preseason is an audtion for a lot of guys. It's where the team is built. Here's the guys that helped their cause (I'm going to have to learn how to pronounce Afalava) and those that hurt it.

Hope that all made sense. Hope things look better Saturday night at Soldier Field against the G-Men.

Now for some better stuff. Found some vids for the day through Covino and Rich.
This first one just be funny as hell.

Now this one, is just a short. Something about fat people breaking things.

And finally, if you didn't catch what was dubbed the biggest women's MMA fight ever over the weekend, here's your chance. I "heart" Gina Carano!

Speaking of Gina, the Nussie Hunter wanted to let you know she was No. 16 on this year's Maxim Hot 100 and was Crush on the new American Gladiators. Take a look at your assets yourself, here. Especially this one. Hope she can return to looking this good after that beatdown.

  1. I wouldn't mind if Carano retired from MMA and kept her face pretty for the next few years. Cyborg looks like her face was beat with a very big ugly stick. She can keep taking poundings to her face.
Cutler.. he's no Sexy Rexy. We gotta come up with a nickname for him.
