Hello Wilber's Way!
I'm sure most of you have heard my name mentioned here before. My Name is Amanda or aka AJ and yes, I am the first female writer to be featured on Wilber's Way. I'm mostly known for giving Aaron ideas on what Nussie should be posted (just lately though), for it's a on going process of which "hottie" is worthy to see Wilber's Way. As Aaron mentioned in yesterday's blog, he's out on assignment for his FT job so a few of his friends get to take over Wilber's Way for a couple days. Well without further ado, let's put a face with a name.

If you look back to the blog dated November 11th: Aaron stated that it was the last time you would see a sighting of J.J. Hardy on Wilber's Way, since being traded to the Minnesota Twins. Well, he should of known better handing the reins over to me, that I would make sure J.J. Hardy was seen on Wilber's Way one last time. I am a huge fan and thought that he deserves one last look.
So there you go folks: J.J. Hardy



Okay, onto the real sports talk now people.... You were probably wondering when I was finally going to talk about sports, right? After all, this is a sports blog. Well, here's the scoop. I really know nothing about sports. I love to watch baseball and football, and I enjoy playing basketball. So please don't expect me to give you stats or play by play because it's just not there. I know more than the average woman does about sports, but by no means am I a sports editor.
However, it is football season.
How about let's talk about another one of my favorite athletes:
Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings.



Adrian is not any older than I am, scaling in at only 24 years old. He went to high school in Palestine, TX and attended college at Oklahoma University or OU. Adrian was the first player in school history to rise above 3,000 rushing yards in two seasons. His senior year at OU he decided that he would forgo his senior year of college and enter the 2007 NFL Draft where it was predicted that he would be a top five draft choice. On April 28, 2007, Peterson was selected by the Minnesota Vikings with seventh overall pick. Three months later on July 29, 2007, Adrian signed his contract with the Vikings for $40.5 million over five years. On February 10, 2008, Adrian won the 2008 NFL Pro Bowl MVP award with 16 carries for 129 yards rushing along with two touchdowns. The 129 rushing yards was the second in Pro Bowl history. Adrian was the first rookie since Marshall Faulk in 1995 to win the Pro Bowl MVP award. 2009 is Peterson's third season in the NFL, his current stat for rushing yards to date is 4,018. Currently, Adrian Peterson is among one of the top running backs for rushing yards in the NFL. As a Adrian Peterson fan or "AP" as I say, "Go Vikings."

Presenting Amanda's Nussie portion of the blog.........Julia Stiles

Julia Stiles is by far my favorite actress. She's most famous for her role as Sara Johnson in "Save the Last Dance" and Nicky in "The Bourne" series with Matt Damon. If you know Julia at all, she is a very classy, down to earth type of girl. Trying to find a "half-naked" picture of her so she would fit in with the other Nussie's that have been featured, was a little difficult I will admit. But, I did it and I hope you enjoyed yourself.
WAIT, WAIT, WAIT...........
I'm a female, and not all the time do I enjoy looking at the Nussie section. I'd like to look at some male bodies for once. (Sorry Aaron, I'm apologizing in advance for having a "half-naked" man featured on "WW")

I want to thank Aaron for giving me the opportunity to blog for Wilber's Way. I was very excitied to show you all that, "I could do it like the guys." I will admit that I was nervous too. Hopefully he doesn't bash edit my blog too bad. He is a writer you know, I'm just the college student.

Still recovering yet another Bears beatdown...

Hope none of you were completely turned off by what Vaughan wrote Friday. Heard someone hacked the account and he took things over. Haha. OK, I gave him the keys to the Ferrarri and he actually did a damn good job. Might need him again in a couple weeks, so look out! I actually owe him multiple beers now.



Didn't get a blog up Monday or Tuesday because I was so damn frustrated with the performance with my Bears last Sunday. It got very ugly at time with Kurt Warner just killing them all game. The lone bright spot of the game was Greg Olsen, who caught three touchdown passes from Jay Cutler.
Got a little quick side not before I get into anything regard that game. I know I talk a lot about Greg Olsen looking like He-Man. Take a look at G-Reg's photo here. Then peep the He-Man intro... Yeah, I'm not crazy. And yes, he did just miss out on being part of the ManCrush edition of the blog a couple weeks ago.



With a super short week for the team with a game Thursday night against the 49ers, and at the half-way point being 4-4, the season is in the balance in the next few weeks. The team says they are still confident they can save the season. It's not that I don't root for them (because I do), but I'm a realist and I have to be shown something encouraging and I haven't seen much of anything I like in the last few weeks.
I'll do a big-time preview of the game tomorrow before I run to Buffalo Wild Wings to catch the game on NFL Network. (I hope to have checks in the mail from both companies by the end of the week, thank you!).



Don't adjust your television sets, that is one last J.J. Hardy sighting on these pages. I know a certain someone (AJ, hope you're doing OK!) was rather upset when word came down he was traded to the Twins. I'm a bit miffed the move didn't yield pitching because this team is in dire need of it. But this starts kicking over a few dominoes as the team looks to build for 2010. I'm not doubting Carlos Gomez taking over in center field. He's got amazing speed and plays a great game in the field. That should be great. He doesn't hit well, which will need to be addressed, but is a problem.
With him taking over in center that means Mike Cameron is going to be out of town. Not a move I can say I endorse. Really was starting to like CAM (BOOGIE!), but have to go with a bit of a youth movement here to save funds to go after pitching.
That means the news out today that General Manager Doug Melvin is becoming more comfortable with bringing catching prospect Jonathan Lucroy up to take over the catching duties. He might not get the 134 games Jason Kendall did, but he's likely to get a large portion of them.
I don't mind any of these moves, I really don't, but as Journal-Sentinel columnist Michael Hunt said today, the youth usually means growing pains, and puts the team farther away from a pennant. Can't say I disagree with that. And why take a step back? The team has Prince Fielder's services for at least the entire 2010 season. Beyond, however, is uncertain as 2011 will be his final arbitration eligible year. The team needs to go for it now while they can.



One of the greats made it clear today he was hanging it up. Yep, Allen Iverson didn't want to come off the bench for the Memphis Grizzlies and has been given an extended leave of absence from the team. Not officially retiring, but it looks like it could be academic at this point. He is just fun to watch. For a guy that small to be able to do what he does is one of the most impressive things in all of sports.
Kind of funny though how, even to this day, he is remembered for this "Practice!" press conference from his days back in Philly...



Alright time for a bit more a fun and uplifting part of the broadcast. Yep, the Nussie Hunter! Time to get into something a bit more fun than looking at V's mom and girl. Today it's all about Isla Fisher. Got the idea from Amanda the other day to get her in this segment and you know I can't really find a reason not to. Let's see, she was funny in Wedding Crashers, was awesome in what is my fave Rom Com Definitely, Maybe and most important she's married to Sasha Baren Cohen. That says something about her: she loves a guy that can make her laugh, something I think I'm pretty good at. Well, without further ado...

The dust finally settled on Black Wednesday at Miller Park

Wow, for about 90 minutes today, I didn't do much of anything at the office today. It was a day of combing the web looking up high school football information when a little message popped up on Facebook, then another and then I couldn't ignore it any longer.
Yep, today turned into Black Wednesday at Miller Park as coaches and players were put on notice (Hopefully your favorite beer man is still around!) .
General Manager Doug Melvin's ousting of pitching coach Bill Castro and demotion of J.J. Hardy came first. The Castro move, I saw coming. I mean, this staff is bad and someone has to go.
The Hardy move was a bit surprising, but a welcome one. The related roster move brings touted prospect Alcedes Escobar to the majors and gives him a chance to shine.
I'm all about this, as it's becoming clear nothing is going to get this team into the playoffs at this point with the Cardinals rolling atop the NL Central and the Giants cruising in the NL Wild Card race.
Not 15 minutes after I read that note by Tom Haudricourt, I refresh the J-S Brewers page and see a new post "Now Hall is Out" Whoa! Melvin really rolling today.
Bill really only spent three days in the minors the first time he was down after Corey Hart's appendix burst and he needed emergency surgery.
All of these moves are ones at this point in the season are meant to shake up the team. When Tom talked to Melvin around 1 today, he made it clear this was not the white flag of surrender. And heck, now the owner is chiming in. Trying to deliver a bit of damage control, it seems.
J.J. says he's burnt out and won't join the Sounds while they are in Salt Lake City. He'll wait for them to return to Nashville.
Castro is said to be one of the nicest guys in the game and I was waiting to see what he had to say about things. Tom H. got a hold of him and he's going to see if there's anything he can do within the organization.
Well, everyone on the team is saying the team is still in it and they believe, but I need a little life in this team again before I start thinking that way. The way the losses keep piling up and the Cardinals keep winning, it's not getting any better.

OK, that was enough negative and news for today. Time for some funny/lighter content.
Got a bit of a debate going on with this next item. Is it real or is it fake. It was a heated topic on Covino and Rich the other day. See for yourself. Pretty cool either way!



And because it was such a rough day, the Nussie Hunter decided to let me pick who we should feature today. Told him I needed a pick me up and he knew right who I was talking about. So Mila Kunis graces the pages today. Hope you enjoy. Now to get to this new-look Brewers game.

Macha-raina time in the second half of the season for the Crew

It's time for the second half of the Major League season is upon us and it gets started tonight when the Brewers take on the Reds to start a four-game series.
Things didn't got well for the Brewers to end the first half of the season and there needs to be some things that go in the Crew's favor if the second half is to result in another playoff berth.
News didn't start well when Dave Bush did not give a solid outing in his second Minor League start in Huntsville. He was scheduled to come back and start Monday's game in Pittsburgh for the Brewers, but we'll have to wait for word now. New word from Ken Macha is that "Mean" Mike Burns will make that start.
It is becoming more and more clear that Doug Melvin needs to make some sort of move to settle that starting rotatation. The talk that Doug Davis is going to come back to Milwaukee and help bring this team together, is crazy. I don't see that move helping this team at all.
I'd like to see something along the lines of a middle of the road guy to settle the rotation and maybe I'm crazy in thinking Boston would want too much for lefty Clay Bucholtz.
Aside from moves, it is clear starting pitching needs to come around for this team to have a shot at the Cardinals and the top of the NL Central. Manny Parra showed what he was capable of in his first start back from the minors last week. I was very impressed with that and think we need something along those lines from here on out.
In other spots, guys like J.J. Hardy and Corey Hart need to come up and live up to their billing of career stats. In listening to what Mach and Melvin have said recently, I'd say that's what they are waiting for. They do that and be consistent the rest of the way and avoid the slumber Hart, especially, hit the last two Septembers.
The final thing that needs to come around is bench play. In the National League the bench is rather important for pinch hitters and guys like Jody Gerut and Bill Hall have not carried their end of the bargain to say the least. Both need to go away and if Bush is able to come back and contribute, I don't see a move for a bat on the bench to be a bad idea.

In other Brewers notes, I was reading one of the blogs I found on Twitter, Miller Park Drunk. Don't let the name fool you, it is pretty funny. Today's blog, was a rather good one and and made a note of an interview Ryan Braun did with a new social networking site, Likeme.Net.



Not sure why I care where Ryan thinks is cool, but hey. Some places get off on that.

Was listening to the Scott Ferrall show in Howard 101 last night and they were talking about the T.O. Show that is coming up on VH1. That is the picture below. That's the nice one of the bunch. The one Scotty and the gang had a problem with was this one. Umm, you decide for yourself.



OK, time to shove off for the Brewers game tonight. An early start, means more pressure on me. Before I leave, I didn't forget about today's Nussie Hunter. This one is for you Chris.
